Advertising is a great way to reach potential customers. It can be seen as a form of marketing, and it has been around for centuries. In the early history of advertising, companies would hand out flyers or pamphlets to get their name out there. Nowadays, advertisements are more common on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter than they have ever been before. Many people have a question whether or not the advertising industry will enter into the business model?
Today, many businesses use various types of ads on different platforms like television and radio, but how does an advertisement make money? First off, all advertisers typically pay for ad space by buying a certain amount of time on the network or page they want to advertise. Once this ad space is purchased, it can be filled by an advertiser with any content as long as it does not violate any rules, for example, nudity and offensive language.
Typically, businesses will buy ad space through a promotion agency that displays the ads in places that consumers most likely frequent. These agencies take a commission out of what each business earns from their advertisement, which has led some people to refer to them as parasites. Still, many see these services as valuable because there would be no way for small businesses to get noticed without them.
While publicizing helps bring attention towards your product/service, what about creating gaming so great where everyone wants it? This is where the business model comes in. By offering something so great, they don’t even need to advertise and just let word of mouth do its thing.
If this were a perfect world, we would all be able to fly around on our helicopters. Still, since that’s not possible yet, we rely on advertisements until people find better alternatives or things become more efficient such as cars becoming self-driving.
If I were building my own company one day, I would go with the second option because if there isn’t an advertisement out there letting someone know about this service or product, who knows when they’ll find out? However, as crazy as advertisements are sometimes, we can all agree on how helpful and valuable these companies have been in helping businesses get their names out there and known throughout society.
In conclusion, marketing is a great way to bring awareness towards your product/service, but it’s not always necessary. A business model can create something so good that people will market the business for you.
