However, Epic Games also took note of the age of their player base. They saw a significant jump in younger players (ages 10-20), replacing the older ones (30+), fueling speculation that the game is no longer played by the over 30. Is it true?
Reddit user r/Gaymer spotted the notable change in Fortnite’s player base and shared the data with another user who had also noticed this shift.
According to Epic Games, they did not plan to limit their Fortnite Battle Royale audience but did state that there were some improvements they could still make to keep new players coming in.
“We did not set out to make a game for everyone, but we did set out to make it accessible to as many people as possible while still having fun,” an Epic Games representative told Kotaku.
While some may question this decision and the possibility of it alienating some players that enjoyed the mature content in the game, it does not seem to have stopped the avalanche of players from joining in on this gaming phenomenon.
According to a recent interview with Kotaku, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney stated that the game had been downloaded 7 million times, and 3 million unique users play the game every day. This equates to roughly $1 million per day for Epic Games.
